Note: As per Barbara Paterson 1/15/2017

As per Barbara Paterson 1/15/2017 Doie was married to Auntie Nell – I know very little about her though. I have no idea of her correct Christian name and I think her surname was Parker. Doie met her in Australia and the relationship continued after he came to live in South Africa. When they decided to marry Granny was sent to Australia to fetch her as she was considered by both families to be a “fast” woman and nobody wanted her to get involved with someone else en route! Doie and Nell lived in Kensington and had 2 sons, Hume and Tony, probably about 1918 / 1920. She was hardly ever called Nell, she was Orrie. I met her several times and she was a very pleasant person. She and Doie parted ways when the boys were grown and she went to live in their beach cottage at Compensation on the Natal North Coast. Dad and I and baby Lindsay spent a wonderful holiday there once. She was an extremely strong swimmer and spent half her life there in the sea.
